Near the market & station
Best for: budget travellers, train arrivals, food lovers. Everything is walkable — chikki shops, restaurants, Lonavla Lake. Rooms are cheaper; views are less dramatic.
Khandala side
Best for: viewpoints, resorts, scenic drives. Closer to Tiger's Leap, Lion's Point and Duke's Nose, and where most luxury resorts sit. You'll need a cab or car.
Lake areas (Pawna / Tungarli)
Best for: camping, glamping, quiet. Pawna is the camping hub; Tungarli has a few boutique stays by the water. Remote — plan transport.

Book smart
- Weekends sell out — book 2–4 weeks ahead, especially in monsoon and December.
- Summer is the bargain season — the best-value rates of the year (March–May).
- Check the access road — some Khandala-side resorts have steep, narrow approaches.
- Monsoon: ask about damp/mould and waterlogging before booking older properties.
- Camping: confirm meals, washrooms and weather policy before paying.
- For train travellers: staying near the market means you can skip a cab entirely.
