Activities
Soft adventure, monsoon picnics, photography, lakeside camping and a little chikki shopping — here's how to spend your hours well, whatever your pace.

01 · Trekking
Trekking is Lonavla's signature activity. The forts ring the valley at every difficulty level, from an easy family stroll to a full-day ridge adventure.
| Fort | Difficulty | Time | Best season |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lohagad | Easy–moderate | 45–60 min | Oct–Feb |
| Visapur | Moderate | 1.5–2 hrs | Oct–Feb |
| Tikona | Moderate | 45–60 min | Oct–Feb |
| Duke's Nose | Easy–moderate | ~1 hr | Oct–Feb |
| Rajmachi | Hard | 4–6 hrs | Oct–Feb |
02 · Monsoon picnics
The stepped spillway becomes a natural water park in monsoon. Arrive by 8–9 am to beat the crowds.
The expressway ghat section is lined with small falls in the rains — stop safely at designated spots only.
An easy, family-friendly picnic spot right at the edge of town, ringed by trees.

03 · Photography
Lonavla is a photographer's playground, especially in the monsoon and early winter. The formula is simple: go early, go high, and wait for the mist to do its thing.

04 · Camping & stargazing
Lonavla's most popular overnight is lakeside camping at Pawna. Operators set up tents with bonfires, barbecue dinners and breakfast, and the night sky — far from city lights — is genuinely beautiful.
05 · Adventure activities
Della's zipline crosses the valley — one of the most popular thrills in the area.
Dirt tracks and karts for groups who want speed, not just scenery.
Rock climbing walls and ghat-side rappelling operators for a real adrenaline hit.
06 · Chikki shopping
No Lonavla trip is complete without a bag of chikki. The original shops cluster near the railway station — most famously the Maganlal lineage — and the market is full of fudge, cashew and peanut varieties.
The original — crunchy peanuts in jaggery, best from the station-area shops.
Richer, softer varieties that make great gifts — try before you buy.
Chocolate fudge is the close second — grab a box for the drive home.
Prices are lowest in the market, not at highway stalls. Buy near the station.
